Why Pediatric
Oncology?
At 15 months of age, Scott Phin’s daughter Peyton was diagnosed with
Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML), a malignant
cancer that originates in a cell in the marrow. The
survival rate is the lowest of all forms of the disease. The
cause is unknown and the treatment is extremely invasive.
After months of extensive treatment, Peyton is one
of the lucky ones and is presently in remission. As a result
of his being a parent of a child with cancer as well as
appreciating the treatment and care his whole family received
at The Children’s Hospital at Sinai, Scott has made
it his personal mission to create The Race for Our Kids
with proceeds benefiting Pediatric Oncology.

Why Sinai?
At The Children’s Hospital at Sinai, where children with cancer are
treated, patients and their families are the top priority.
The philosophy is team-directed patient care offering
the best in cutting-edge treatment in an environment that
best suits the patient and the family needs.
Sinai is proud of its Children Hospital team, composed of three
specialty care hematology-oncology nurses, a nurse practitioner,

of helping to cure and providing the best care for our children
