For the safety of all our participants, please note no strollers, skates, scooters or pets are allowed on the 5K or 10K race course. This rule will be strictly enforced in 2013. Strollers are allowed on the 1 Mile Family Walk course.

Take a slight right on Greenspring Avenue to finish line near intersection of Greenspring Avenue and Northern Parkway.
The USATF Certified 5K and 10K course routes will remain the same as in 2012. The course starts out on Pimlico Road, heading north, with a big downhill stretch for the first half mile to get you warmed up. The course then meanders on the shady Cross County Boulevard for the next two miles, with a slight but barely noticeable increase in elevation. The course turns into the beautiful Cross Country community on Fallstaff Road, where runners will run to the turnaround point just before the third mile mark on Labyrinth Road. The race then returns on the same path back to the Pimlico Road/Cross Country Boulevard intersection, but this time with a slight downhill in elevation. Here, runners cross the intersection and take Greenspring Avenue back for a sizeable uphill for approximately 6/10th's of a mile, but then will appreciate the slight downhill for the final 2/10th of a mile to the finish on the shaded Greenspring Avenue near the intersection of Northern Parkway. All runners will then safely walk across Northern Parkway with the help of the police to the Post-Race Party at the Sinai Hospital parking lot.
The course is equipped with course marshals, water stops with water and Gatorade, and medical support teams.
The 10K will still start at 8:00 a.m. and the 5K will start at 8:25 a.m. The pace of the 5K runners who are hitting the turnaround and merging with the 10K runners is closer in pace to the 10K runners who are also hitting that point in the race. These runners will then finish the race with more runners who are running at their own pace and will encounter fewer runners to have to overtake. Please do your part to:
1. make sure you do not run/walk more than 2-astride so that when a runner does need to get around you, they are easily able to do so, and
2. heed the signs asking the 5K runners to stay to the left at the turnaround and the 10K runners to stay right until well after the merge.
The awards ceremony will recognize all runners in the 5K and 10K who place in their age groups with medals. Please note, cash prizes for the 10K will be distributed four to six weeks AFTER the race.
We appreciate your input so that we may keep making this race the best it can be.
